BURTON HEALTHCARE SCHEDULING SPECIALIST DOUBLES IN SIZE IN FIVE YEARS

...

Burton upon Trent based software specialist BookWise Solutions has announced a record financial year, achieving 20 per cent growth and more than doubling in size in five years.

The health-tech business develops scheduling software for hospitals, which is used to manage rooms, staff and resources. Major benefits for patients and hospital staff include increased efficiency and transparency, as well helping to improve the patient experience.

The company also increased the number of hospitals it works with to 165, across 94 Trusts. This accounts for 64% of all the Acute Trusts in the UK.  Of the 16 UK Trusts that are internationally recognised as Global Digital Exemplars, BookWise is making a difference at two thirds of them.

BookWise offers software solutions for hospitals including its ‘Duo’ system, used to streamline the management of Day Units; and its ‘Outpatients’ system, which allows hospital staff to check clinic room availability and resources at the click of a button.

During 2019 BookWise entered into partnerships with new Trusts including Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Devon Healthcare NHS Trust. BookWise ‘Duo’ was implemented at all three Trusts to schedule patient appointments and allocate nurse time in a standardised and efficient way across their day units.

Commenting on the growth of the business, BookWise Managing Director, Denise Williamson, said:

“Our success over the last year, and five years, are thanks to the dedication of our team who continue to impress and surprise me with their determination, knowledge and passion to help hospitals to deliver the best patient care by using new technology.

“It’s clear that the NHS is facing unprecedented demand. This is leading Trusts to work tirelessly to increase efficiency wherever possible to provide the best patient care. We know that every hospital has its own needs, pressures and requirements; that’s why we’ve created a full suite of products, which work in various clinical settings and contexts.

“We know that our solutions, which we continue to develop all the time, will play a critical role in reducing waiting times. We are working hard to support our partner hospitals and Trusts even more to improve patient experiences and help clinical staff by removing administrative burdens.”

The BookWise team continues to grow in 2020, taking on 5 new team members in the last six months to bolster its team to 14.
